Making It Happen
The Trane approach
Once an organization makes up its mind to put high performance building principles into practice, the question becomes, “How do we make it happen?”
The solution requires a collaborative business partner that has both contributor-level knowledge of prevailing industry standards and a deep understanding of the holistic nature of how buildings work. It also requires a sophisticated portfolio of building technologies and service capabilities—the tools that make high performance building work.
Trane begins every high performance building relationship with a conversation about the organization’s immediate and long-range strategic and financial goals. This is followed by an overall facilities audit and assessment of current building strengths and weaknesses. These initial steps are crucial because they enable us to determine and implement a specific set of actions that will align the performance of the building to the mission of the organization.
Once the initial work is done, Trane continues the customer relationship to validate the results, and sustain the desired performance levels through continuous systems monitoring, periodic audits and ongoing assessment.
Certification support
The same expertise, service and technology that are required for high performance buildings can provide the means to achieve certification through LEED® for Existing Buildings and similar programs. However, organizations that do not want to invest the time and resources to obtain formal certifications can still aspire to the standards that will make their buildings better for the environment and more effective for their organization.
